Literacy Week at Buckingham January 24-28th

Our annual School-Wide Literacy Week is coming up. See below for some great activities to celebrate books and reading!

Each student will be bringing home a Literacy Week BINGO sheet filled with wonderful literacy activities that you can do together as a family. Try to do as many of the activities together as you can and have fun sharing the joys of words and stories.

One teacher each day will read a book over the announcements and throughout the week, students will be trying to match teachers with their favourite friendship themed books.

Spirit Day: Students and Staff, please dress as your favourite storybook character or wear a shirt with words on it (appropriate words only please).

DEAR: Today the whole school will drop everything and read for 15 minutes at the same time.

Words in the Woods: There will be papers with words hidden in the trees and outdoor spaces around the school grounds. Throughout the week, students will try to find all the papers, then put them together to unscramble a secret message.

Favourite Books Window Display: Each classroom window will be decorated with the students’ favourite book covers. On Friday, you and your class can take a walk around the school and look at all the windows.

Hope you have fun celebrating Literacy Week with us! Thank you for supporting Literacy at school and at home.
