Buckingham Elementary will observe Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 29th.. Orange Shirt Day serves as a reminder of the Canadian Residential school System and our ongoing and important journey towards reconciliation. This annual observance, marked by wearing orange shirts, honours the Indigenous peoples and children who endured immense suffering and cultural erasure within these institutions. Orange Shirt Day highlights the need for truth, acknowledgement, and healing. Buckingham Elementary is committed to continuing the important work of dismantling systemic injustices and to promoting more equitable and inclusive spaces within our community. We encourage all Buckingham staff and students to wear something ORANGE to school on Friday, September 29th.
